Old-School: First Vegas Casino to Offer 3-Dice Yahtzee Game

One of many’s favorite classic family dice games is getting ready for a major casino makeover in downtown Las Vegas, with Golden Nugget as the first casino in the city to offer 3-Dice Yahtzee. Pioneering Game for a Vegas Venue Created by Las Vegas-based Galaxy Gaming, the new house-banked table game will bring the familiar concept of the beloved game straight to the casino floor. Golden Nugget’s installation marks the first time the game has reached a Las Vegas casino. Galaxy Gaming said the game had already been introduced in other markets before making its debut downtown. Galaxy Gaming first introduced the game at the start of the year during the International Casinos Exhibition (ICE) in Barcelona. The launch formed part of the company’s licensing agreement with Hasbro to bring Yahtzee and Monopoly-branded games to casino floors. Special Payouts and Bonus Bets Players are allowed to wager on two sets of three dice, with bets available on whether the Red or Blue side wins or whether the two sides finish tied. The game is designed around quick, head-to-head rounds and uses three possible hand rankings: Yahtzee, Straight and Chance. A Yahtzee, meaning three matching dice, is the highest-ranking result, followed by a three-dice straight. If neither side rolls one of those combinations, the three dice are added together and the higher total wins as the Chance result. While the standard game offers even-money wagers, 3-Dice Yahtzee includes some unusual betting features. One exception applies when the winning Chance score is 10 and the losing score is 8. Rather than paying even money, the winning wager pushes. Players can also place an optional wager on that specific outcome, which pays 35-to-1. Casinos will be able to freely configure the game to offer enhanced payouts when the winning hand is three sixes. Depending on the version, a 6-6-6 Yahtzee can pay either 6-to-5 or 3-to-2 instead of the standard even-money payout. The game also features optional bonus wagers as well as a progressive bet based on all six dice rolled across the Red and Blue hands. Progressive payouts can apply to five- and six-dice Yahtzees and straights, with a jackpot available for six sixes.
