Play’n GO is exploring a potential sale to a major regulated gaming operator with a possible deal valued a hundreds of million of euros, based on a report by NEXT.io. Multiple sources tell, the discussions around a M&A transaction are underway. The news comes after the provider announced recently about withdrawing its games rom all major aggregators over concerns about offshore market leakage and one month after provider also discontinued its operations in Asia. CEO Johan Törnqvist declined to comment on the reported sale. Potential buyers of Play’n GO There are a number of prominent gaming companies which could potentially acquire the company, such as Australian gaming giant Aristocrat, Genting and Light & Wonder. A representative from the sector highlighted Aristocrat, referring to its focus on the content of the games while revealing the possibility of expanding its regulated distribution channels in the online market, especially in Europe. The acquisition of Play’n GO may also lead to the emergence of ways for Aristocrat to distribute its content through online and land-based distribution channels. Andrew Tottenham, a professional in the industry, mentioned that acquisition of a company may give buyers a stronger possibility for expansion in terms of providing content than organic development. He added that increasing the supplier business without mergers could be quite difficult. This is supported by the fact that Play’n GO already operates in six US states, which may be another reason why companies would like to acquire it. Along with the sales preparations the provider is also planning to expand its external government affairs activities. However, Play’n GO has not publicly confirmed that it is preparing for a sale, and the company has declined to comment on the reports.
