Travellers International Hotel Group Inc, which runs the Newport World Resorts casino and leisure complex in the Philippine capital Manila, saw attributable net income that “nearly doubled year-on-year” in the first half of 2026, to PHP568 million (US$9.2 million). That is according to a Friday press release accompanying the first-half results of the parent, Philippine conglomerate Alliance Global Group Inc. Travellers International’s first-half earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) grew 13 percent year-on-year to PHP4.4 billion, “supported by cost efficiencies and a higher-margin revenue mix”. The unit’s net revenue reached PHP15.2 billion in the six months to June 30, “as strength in the resilient non-VIP segment and fast-growing non-gaming offerings more than offset a decline in volatile VIP volumes,” per the update. Travellers International’s non-gaming revenues in the first half reached PHP3.9 billion, up 12 percent year-on-year, “as the Newport World Resorts complex sustained higher room rates and stronger food and beverage sales,” the parent noted. Non-VIP gross gaming revenue (GGR) grew 6 percent year-on-year, to PHP9.6 billion, “reflecting the resilience of the segment and the growing contribution of its digital channels”. “With additional capacity from Westside Resort Manila and Narra Palm Resorts and Villas scheduled to come on stream later this year, Travellers is positioned to build on this momentum,” Alliance Global stated. Newport World Resorts (pictured) currently has five international hotel brands: Marriott Manila Hotel, Sheraton Manila Hotel, Hilton Manila, Hotel Okura Manila, and Holiday Inn Express Manila. It offers a total of 2,742 guest rooms. Alliance Global flagged last year the development of a 157-room The Narra Palm Hotel and Villa at the casino complex. Travellers International is also involved in the development of the US$1.25-billion Westside Resort in Manila, including a casino. Alliance Global said in Friday’s announcement that Travellers International “delivered the group’s most improved earnings performance in the first half as its revenue mix continued to shift”. Kevin Tan, president and chief executive of Alliance Global, said the strength of this group was “its mix”. “Our recurring property income kept compounding, our gaming business grew earnings even as the industry moved away from VIP play, and our spirits continued to grow on a stronger portfolio,” he added.
