Hippos ATG receives a licence from Finland’s new Gambling Act to operate in the country. It’s the the second operator, after Wildz, to to go live on 1 July 2027 in Finland. The company is half owned by the Swedish AB Trav och Galoppi (ATG) and the Finnish Hippos Association. It will make its range of games available to Finnish market. The licence also covers the horse racing and sports betting products. Hippos ATG CEO Mikael Bäcke says: We have always been confident that we will meet the conditions for the license. A positive decision is the most important prerequisite for entering the market, so this is a significant moment for us. We have worked hard to build a completely new company in Finland and its operating models from the ground up to comply with the requirements of the new Finnish legislation. After this excellent news, we can focus even more strongly on the products themselves and on finalizing the operational entity. The goal of the new licensing system in Finland is to regulate and oversee gambling in Finland more effectively. ATG wants to be part of this important transformation as a faithful, trustworthy and reliable player in Finland. The intention is to create a sustainable operating gambling firm in Finland building on the expertise brought by ATG from Sweden and Denmark and the trotting and horse racing skills of the Finnish Horse Owners Association. Bäcke added: With the license, ATG is the largest gambling operator in the Nordic countries and the market leader in horse racing betting in Sweden and Denmark. We want to be involved in developing the gaming industry and thereby also support the conditions for Finnish sports and horse racing.
