Paf is the latest iGaming entity to join the Finnish Gaming Association as the market anticipates mass-market regulation that will open the floodgates for sports betting and online casino operators to take a share of the consumer pie. The company is joining Rahapeliala ry to help offer valuable input as the market unfolds, and challenges begin to emerge. Paf is going to be standing side-by-side with key decision makers in the sector, with Veikkaus, the current monopoly, also among the members. Paf Has Longstanding Track Record of Promoting Responsible Gambling Commenting on this development, Paf SVP Public Affairs, Sverker Skogberg, had this to add: “Paf’s experience, both domestically and from other markets, shows that the industry must be able to communicate common challenges to the rest of society with one strong, common voice. We believe Paf has a lot to contribute to that process, and we are convinced that the valuable work of the Finnish Gaming Association will continue and strengthen as we approach next year’s market opening.” Finnish Gaming Association CEO Mika Kuismanen has welcomed the addition of Paf to the association, arguing that the company brought a significant amount of expertise and experience in the industry, and will further help strengthen the association’s advocacy efforts in the country. “Paf played a significant role in the preparation of the new Gambling Act, and cooperation with the Finnish Gaming Association has already been good in the past. Now we will be able to work even more closely together. I am convinced that we are stronger together,” Kuismanen argues. The membership was announced during the Åktoberfest seminar in Helsinki, Finland, with the seminar also taking a look at centralized limits and pushing back against the illegal gambling market. The event, attended by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and KKV Research Director Riku Buri, saw the researcher argue that blocking the illegal gambling market should be a priority – along with gaming limits that apply to all gaming companies. Paf has long been open to this idea, as it became the first global company to introduce a mandatory loss limit in 2018. The limit for individuals aged 25 or older in 2026 was adjusted to €15,000 per year, further reducing it.
