The Genting group’s Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) casino complex in the United States announced on Friday the opening of its new International Room gaming area (pictured), described as “an exclusive, high-limit… destination bringing an elevated level of luxury, privacy and personalised hospitality”. The circa 13,657-square-foot (1,269-sq.-metre) space, opened on Thursday, is said to offer 48 table games and three private gaming salons, featuring high-limit baccarat, roulette and blackjack. The International Room provides an “intimate, premium gaming experience designed for guests seeking the privacy and white glove service traditionally associated with the world’s leading luxury casino destinations,” stated a press release from the property. As well as dedicated hosts, the room is said to have available hot and cold food on the gaming floor, 24 hours per day. Robert DeSalvio, president of development, Genting Americas East, was cited as saying: “We are extremely proud of the speed with which we have built and opened this incredible space that offers a new and uplifted experience to our players.” RWNYC had an April 28 launch as a full-service casino after its promoter, Genting New York LLC, was approved for a full downstate gaming licence by the New York State Gaming Commission, following a competitive tender that produced three successful bidders. Genting New York is a subsidiary of Genting Malaysia Bhd. RWNYC in Queens, New York City, initially opened in 2011 as an electronic gaming venue, with Thursday’s event coming at the time of the property’s 15th anniversary, per the update. The launch of the International Room is said to be part of a broader expansion of RWNYC’s first floor, with 57 additional table games and 147 additional slot machines coming online for a total of nearly 300 live table games and over 4,000 slot machines on the property. In July the complex’s promoters broke ground on phase two of work to expand the complex to a US$5.5 billion integrated resort that will eventually house a 7,000-seat arena, 2,000 hotel rooms, and 11 acres (4.5 hectares) of “green space”.
